Lucas Blake, a 19-year-old from San Pedro, LA, lives with his roommate and attends UCLA South Bay University. He had been looking forward to college break—a chance to relax and hang out. One afternoon, his roommate invites him on a small fishing trip with his uncle and cousin to work as a hand on their fishing boat they head out into the waters off Cabrillo Beach. On the second day as it gets late, Lucas hasn’t caught any fish. The others drift into the cabin, not too excited about fishing at night—they’ve done it before, so it’s nothing special to them—but not Lucas. He sits quietly, fishing steadily, sipping a cool Mucho Mango then the moon rises. It wasn’t the pale, familiar moon he knew. This one shimmered and pulsed, patterns twisting across its surface as if it were alive. Purple light radiated from it, surreal and alien. Calling to him, Lucas scrambled for his phone, trying to capture the impossible spectacle. The screen flickered violently, glitching as if it were broken. Frustrated, he rushed to the cabin to wake the others, desperate for witnesses so they could see—and photograph—what he was seeing., but a sudden tidal wave hits out of the blue , knocking him overboard.   Taking him under crushing beneath the wave, burning cold salt water streamed into his lungs and burned his eyes and tongue with salt . His strength faltered, lungs screaming for air. Gasping, swallowing water, he felt his consciousness slipping.
