Top Gun Money always wins

A short story where Maverick gets to build his Darkstar fighter When he is forced to try to sell an unsuitable plane to Canada. He gets offered a deal to build a decent fighter. He wants to build a faster and better fighter than the enemy fighter that avoided his missile. The Su-57 jet fighter aircraft, which Maverick saw pull off an insane turn to avoid his missile.  They were saying it took three 2 million dollar missiles to take down a single 50,000 drone. Which means given the fact an drone is easy and fast to build.  You need a cheaper way to block the drones. Maverick will be building a cheap defensive system which will work with his plane design. This is a story set in the near future where missiles jamming equipment has degraded missiles to about the Vietnam war level. So missiles have a less than ten percent hit ratio. I loved the part in top gun where they were talking about going back to learn how to dog fight. I looked it up and there was a huge issue due to the fact the American planes had missiles which in one battle non of the 6 missiles managed to hit an enemy aircraft. 3 Failed to ignite 2 did not lock on and the last was easily dodged. So I will be writing about Maverick building a dog fighter when emp and missile jamming makes missiles worthless. Maverick will have to build a jet fighter and defensive drone system and train pilots.   Image from pexels
