(Slow Burn, Hard Sci-Fi) Neuroscientist Elara Vance spends her nights studying neural noise. One night, the noise organizes itself. For a fraction of a second, a perfect geometric structure appears inside the static of her EEG data. Random signals shouldn’t behave like that. But the anomaly returns. As the pattern grows more complex, Elara begins to suspect that the signal isn’t random at all. Something else may be thinking through the noise.
