Screw, a boy of eleven, lives in a desert filled towering piles of rusted scrap that reach towards the sky, where the sun and sand torture him for his optimism. It is a wasteland of suffering, the only relief found within piles of scrap where the sun and sand cannot reach him.  Unfortunately, to get ration points he has to find and bring non-rusted scrap to refurbishing centers to trade them in for a small portion of gruel and a cup of water.  The rules of his reality allow him to suffer beyond mortal comprehension in an eternal torture until one day he meets a monk who speaks to him of concepts he had never heard of and tells him of a path out of his torturous reality. The path of cultivation.  As he drifts from place to place, cultivating and growing in power he begins to notice a pattern of oppression in the mind and environment of those he meets.
