CANCELED PROJECT. SORRY. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ In New Brighton, Andrew Comstock knows how to fix almost anything. It isn't glamorous work. The pay is barely enough to keep a man employed—and barely enough to keep his family fed. Then his oldest friend offers him a drink called Seven Skulls. It isn't rum. After one drink, the machines Andrew has spent his life repairing begin to make sense in ways they shouldn't. Ancient technology. Soul Shards. Energy systems built by people who understood things no ordinary engineer ever could. Andrew has spent his life fixing machines. He never expected the machines to start teaching him. And someone at Vertexion notices. The corporation offers Andrew a job he can't afford to refuse. Along with it comes something even stranger: an automaton assigned to him. But Vertexion isn't interested in Andrew's ability to repair broken machines. They want to know what he can do with the technology inside them. And they have a job for him. The Dead Wilds. A lost facility. A vanished expedition. And a Soul Shard unlike anything Andrew has ever seen. Andrew only wanted to build a better life for his family. Instead, he may have just learned how to unlock the past. AI: Proofread, edit, ideas
