Dragons have a level cap at six hundred. The guilds teach it, and the systems confirm it. Doctor Feylun Felister, the Father of Dragon Ecology, broke it. Kaelus Felister knows what he will do when his boots sink into the sands of Dezelmeir’s beach. With his head held high, he intends to study dragons with enough devotion to rival his father’s findings, and outrank him in power to earn his own name in his guild. When he stands before the dragon his father nurtured beyond their maximum potential, however, he is confronted by the sheer magnitude of his goals and realization that level caps are only a suggestion. Emilia Fairedon will do whatever it takes to ensure her family never suffers again. Which is why she struggles through graduation of a guild academy she has no interest in, then aims her tranquilizer gun at the first dragon she encounters. She has never understood the stats, or growth rate, or even the ranks of dragons, but she knows what society has taught her: dragons are assets for success. When questionable circumstances bind scholar and hunter away from the safe zones set by the guilds, they are forced to help each other in the uncharted wilderness upon the vast continent of Dezelmeir.
