Lucien Atreilight is the Second Prince of the Solaire Empire, fated to die before the story even begins. In the fantasy novel he once read, his mother and grandfather died in a power struggle against the First Prince's faction. And now he is that doomed prince. Trapped in a web of court intrigue, he searches for a way back to Earth—only to discover that every time he dies, the world loops back as though it refuses to let him go. Yet the longer he survives, the more reality diverges from the story he remembers; the future he once knew becomes increasingly uncertain. Worse still, the villains who were meant to oppose the protagonist are now hunting him.
