It's just a game. Right? In the year 2049, the most popular hyper-reality game on the planet receives its first update. Unfortunately, the new patch has a few bugs. By way of example, four of Silverdawn's best players—Char, Mammon, Quartz, and Apostle—are trapped inside. Adding to the confusion, they've all dropped to first level, which is rather unfortunate since dying in the game is now a death sentence in real life. Oh, and they've swapped bodies. That would all be bad enough, but something else is happening within their virtual prison. Dark pacts are broken. Dangerous forces are coming to power. Worms are barfing light. Okay, that last one isn't so bad, I guess, but it's still kind of weird. Now each player must decide for themselves: are they the hero of this story? Or the villain? What to expect: Four main characters who don't trust each other very much. A massive, fully established world with slow burn level progression and epic mysteries to unravel. A lot of monster killin' (and also some smooching). The heat death of our universe (eventually). New Chapters Every M/W/F Cover art by the brilliant Igor Grouper.

Traffic and conversion both sit mid-field for a story this size. Growth here compounds from consistency: steady cadence feeds traffic, and a sharper hook lifts what each view is worth.
At this conversion, the Comedy Rising Stars bar (≈2 new followers/day) costs about 549 views/day — the story currently gets ~203.
Benchmarks: 8,060 active Royal Road stories, percentiles within the 50–149 chapters band, cohort of 2026-07-02. Conversion is measured as followers gained per 1,000 views over the recent window.
