If you're reading this, then somehow I saved the world. That, or you probably want me dead. Either way, you're not getting your shit back. I really should have appreciated the little things in life while I had them. I used to like long walks on the beach, Hallmark Christmas movies, and living an easy life as a New England mailman. Then the system came and reworked my priorities. Now, the beaches are crawling with inter-dimensional monsters, America has dissolved into nothing but lawless territories governed by magically enhanced humans known as "Breakers", and worst of all, there's no more cable. And what happened to me you ask? Why, I became a new kind of delivery boy of course, delving into the ruins of the old world in search of magical artifacts for the highest bidder. It was on one of these little excursions when, whether by chance or sheer misfortune, I became "Integrated", and suddenly, my career prospects started to open up. Now, I have a bounty on my head, a sentient smart-talking shotgun, and a yeti cub with boundary issues. Can I take these "gifts" and survive in a world gone to hell? I mean... obviously. How else do you think I wrote this? Signed: Doc McGuire The Last Aether King What to Expect - A gritty journey through a post-system-apocalyptic United States, accentuated with dark humor and hard hitting action scenes, and written from the perspective of a jaded older MC whose main coping mechanisms are sarcasm and self-deprecation. - A simple streamlined LitRPG system that bonds a soul with a sentient object, and is enhanced by crystals found inside of dungeons or from slain monsters. - A continental territory grab between five major factions of Breakers each hailing from their own corner of the US. - Shotguns, Shenanigans, and a shitload of swearing. Note: The main character will not acquire a system interface or any sort of status screen until chapter six. Please keep that in mind as you go through the early chapters and wonder where the LitRPG aspect comes in. It's there I promise. Posting Schedule Chapters will be uploaded every weekday, Monday through Friday and will be no less than 1500 words. Releases will be moved to two days a week starting May 4th and drop every Monday and Friday from that point onward.
