A land blessed with thousands of cultures, each different in language, dress, food, norms, traditions, and so much more — where one human completely differs from another, sharing only the simple truth that they are human. Yet in the midst of these diverse cultures and tribes spread across the land, one myth, one story, one piece of folklore has been told and passed down through generations: the tale of the King of No Land and the Weaver. This land is called Kuta’ra, a pan-African–inspired world held together by an ever-moving, threaded heart. Ariya, a young girl, finds herself on a journey through the land of Kuta’ra with Temba — a boy who seems to have no past. As they travel across the land and encounter the different cultures it has to offer and the secret hidden within these cultures, their journey is halted when they must help protect one of the tribes that hosted them. This battle becomes the turning point that sets the stage for their true journey to begin. Until then, they had merely been wandering without purpose — but this moment gives them direction.
