Terror of Demons

Terror of Demons

by Penn Fuller

War and MilitaryMultiple Lead CharactersSci-fiStrong LeadAction

The last of a knightly order of demon-slayers is awakened to save a great city from a terrible siege. Every night, the siege against the city of Exelsior is harder to hold back. The attacking demons flee in daylight, but if things keep going the way they have been, the walls will fall any night, and countless innocent people will die. Sir Dagus was once known as the "Terror of Demons," the greatest warrior in an order of crusading paladins, but he is all that remains of his order, and not much remains of him. Captain Lochlan is an officer of the City Guard, whose only goal is to hold the walls and, if possible, live to see another dawn. Dicken Rosegrew is a timid city bureaucrat, the aide to a grandstanding alderman. When the city's bishop unleashes Dagus, restored to his former power by magic and technology, the three are thrown into working together, from fighting against the worst nightly siege in history, to a perilous mission into the long-barren Badlands--a mission that could end the threat at last, if each man can confront who he really is. This story features heroes grappling with failure, fear, and the tension between rules and reality; epic fights against monstrous demons; a dark, medieval, science fantasy setting loosely inspired by Doom: The Dark Ages; and some occasional comic relief. Content warnings are included for violence, including some descriptions of blood and possibly sensitive descriptions of interrogating enemies.
