Les Chroniques du Ciel Dérobé

Dark progression fantasy - slow burn - guild / slavery / monster ecology Someone stole lightning from the sky. The world didn't end — it just started keeping different books. Yssavelle had a name, a lineage, and a future. Now she has a slave Mark, a severed tongue, and a Guild file that reads defective stock — disposal recommended. A line in a ledger, waiting to be crossed out. Haru Suwan finds her dying in a city plaza. He doesn't offer salvation. He sets a cup of water within her reach and asks whether she intends to use it. What follows isn't a rescue. It's a slow, costly question — whether a person reduced to inventory can be counted back into someone, and what it costs the man keeping the tally. Haru is an F-rank adventurer who treats monsters as data, mana as proto-physics, and his own survival as a variable he'll adjust. He doesn't chase glory. He chases understanding — and in Aetherra, understanding is becoming a dangerous thing to want. Because Aetherra runs on ledgers. The Guild prices lives by rank. The Civic Department files the people it disposes of. And out past the safe rings, the monsters have stopped behaving like random corruption and started moving like something with a purpose — a wound in the world that someone, somewhere, would rather keep off the books. Two people learn to read what the records leave out. The world would prefer they didn't. Les Chroniques du Ciel Dérobé :  A slow burn. No cheats. A mute heroine who speaks louder than anyone. Violence and psychological weight on the page — when they matter.
