The cosmos has a manager
Reality is full of gods, monsters, eldritch horrors, and administrative disasters.
When those become unmanageable, they become Vaelith’s problem.
Vaelith is a mortal who leads the Wardens — cosmic officers tasked with maintaining balance across realms, catastrophes, and budget meetings that involve screaming.
Her subordinates include Death, a shadow-draped entity with strong opinions about limb décor, and a Leviathan who keeps turning training exercises into betting pools.
The recruits expected glory.
Instead, they got this:
“What are you, truly?” Iris asks.
“The leader,” says Orvyn.
“The one who decides fate like it’s a mild inconvenience,” Elaris adds.
“The one who actually made a good point about budget allocations at the last banshee attacks,” notes the Leviathan.
“The one who does a job,” Vaelith says flatly.
In a universe of cosmic horror, inevitability apparently drinks tea and files reports.
