Hiro is a reserved teenage boy struggling to navigate the pressures of high school while carrying a secret he has never shared with anyone: a triangular birthmark etched into his forearm. To most, it is merely an unusual mark. To Hiro, it feels like a brand—one tied to something he cannot fully understand. Plagued by chronic insomnia, Hiro endures relentless, vivid nightmares of a shadowy spirit that trails him through distorted dreamscapes. The entity is neither passive nor distant; it watches, follows, and seems to be waiting. Each morning, Hiro awakens more exhausted, increasingly unsure whether the presence exists solely in his dreams. As unsettling as the visions are, they pale in comparison to the waking anomalies he experiences. In rare moments of isolation, Hiro discovers he can influence the vitality of living creatures. Plants revive at his touch—or wither. Small animals heal—or weaken. The power responds unpredictably to his emotions, surging when he feels fear, anger, or desperation. Lacking guidance and terrified of exposure, Hiro struggles to control these abilities, uncertain whether they are a gift or a curse. Among his classmates is Yamiko, a shy and perceptive girl who watches Hiro with quiet intensity. Though timid and awkward in his presence, she senses something unusual about him. Drawn by both curiosity and a growing attraction, Yamiko begins piecing together fragments of Hiro’s strange behavior, inching closer to uncovering the truth he desperately tries to conceal. As Hiro’s nightmares grow more vivid and his powers more volatile, he must confront the possibility that the spirit haunting his dreams is connected to the mark on his arm—and that Yamiko may be the only person who can help him face what is coming.
