Prologue - Flowers of Destiny History is what people remember about wars and who won them. It also remembers times of peace. When they did not work out. People usually recall wars by who was victorious and peace, by what went wrong. Destiny is really good, at remembering the people we come from the things we do not talk about and the things the world decides to forget. Destiny remembers these things like our family histories, the quiet moments and the things that people do not want to think about. Destiny remembers bloodlines it remembers silences. It remembers the things the world agrees to forget. The world had no monsters. I mean there were no creatures like the ones you see in movies. The world was a normal place, with people living their lives going to work and doing everyday things.. Then people started talking about monsters and I thought to myself what if the world really did have no monsters? What if they were something we made up? The world had no monsters. So I thought. That was the lie that every child was taught. I think about this a lot. Every child learns this lie when they are very little. It is the lie that every child is taught. The world was not a place where weird creatures jumped out of the ground or where scary animals hid out of sight. It was not a place where gods got angry and sent fire from the sky. The world had people in it. Humans and elves and beastkin. These people made choices when they really believed in something and that belief became a rule. They made choices when they were scared. That fear looked like faith, to them.
