At seventeen, every citizen of Aerion stands before the Resonance Lamp. The flame reveals your magical potential. When Aldric Voss steps forward, the Lamp barely flickers. In a world ruled by mages, that means one thing: useless. But the Lamp measures mana that flows outward. Aldric’s mana flows inward. Instead of spells, it hardens his bones. Instead of fireballs, it forges muscle and steel-like skin. Instead of casting magic — he becomes it. The academies call his path impossible. History says it always ends in failure. Aldric refuses to accept history. As the mage elite climb ranks through politics and power, Aldric experiments on himself, pushing his body past its limits. Every breakthrough makes him stronger. Every mistake nearly kills him. And while the powerful hoard the last healthy mana veins of the realm, Aldric may be the only one walking a path that doesn’t rely on them. To survive, he won’t just have to grow stronger. He’ll have to redefine what magic is.
