A crown can command. But only listening can heal a broken world. Elowen was raised to rule from a distance—trained to see her people as numbers, borders, and laws. When a curse strips her of crown and comfort alike, she is forced to walk among the consequences of rule she never meant to ignore. Alongside Bram, a man bound by an older failure, Elowen is drawn into villages abandoned by power, cities left to rot, and hidden worlds that have survived by staying unseen. Fishermen who no longer trust promises. Stonefolk who remember betrayal. Fae who bargain in cost instead of loyalty. Demons who are not what the stories say. As the curse tightens, it becomes clear it was never meant as punishment. It was meant as a test. To rule without hiding. To choose without commanding. To rebuild without repeating the past. This is a story about leadership forged through witness, not conquest. About worlds learning to speak after centuries of silence. About power that changes not because it must—but because it listens.
