The food contains something that makes compliance easier. The monitoring network doesn't watch from towers. It runs through the walls. Something under Port Azure predates all of it. The Commission found it. They didn't build it. They don't know what it is — and they have been very careful to ensure no one else finds out it exists. Six people are moving against a system that has had a century to make itself invisible. A fighter who has organized his entire life around being the thing that doesn't fall, running out of reasons to stay standing. A wild magic user whose power is bottlenecked by a sigil she can't remove and doesn't fully understand. A Dwarven nature cleric eight years into an exile from the mountain that made him, who tends things instead of fighting them and believes this is the correct response to a world that is sick. A Halfling rogue who learned what not to put in food long before she understood the application. A monk who operates in the silence between sounds. A Goblin Artificer who doesn't see the Commission as evil — just incorrectly calibrated — and is fairly confident he has the tools to fix it, side effects pending. They are not heroes. They are people who ran out of sanctioned options and found each other in the gap. The Building Storm is a dark fantasy resistance narrative about what it costs to restore something the world has been convinced it never needed — and what happens when the system that replaced it realizes something is moving against it.
