Passion Project

In a near-future where college admissions have driven everyone insane, Sam is the last normal teenager on Earth. She just wants to write her essays and move on. But her classmates are literally sawing off their limbs for "Extracurricular Enhancement" from Optimodyne, the chirpy infomercial company that promises to turn you into the perfect applicant. Her best friend trades her legs for carbon-fiber sprinter's blades. Her rival replaces her fingers with living paintbrushes. Her own parents start leaving brochures for "The Full Ride" package on her pillow. Sam must survive senior year while surrounded by cheerful, mutilated overachievers who keep asking her why she's not serious about her future, all while Optimodyne's upbeat jingle follows her everywhere. The horror is in the blood and viscera. The comedy is in Sam just trying to get a snack from the kitchen while a cyborg valedictorian bleeds on the linoleum.
