by Deadly Dreams
After decades of working on her precious theories in physics, more valuable than even her life, Mary Sehvan dies in her bed, succumbing to a mysterious illness before falling through an impossibly dark void into the Great Unknown. Death is not the end though, if this is even truly death. After falling through that impossible dark she enters a seemingly Endless Maze of gray impalpable brick, and shadows of black ink that appear to be sentient. The Darkness is alive then. Or Is she the Darkness, as if it has inhabited her, and stolen her soul for its own purposes? Wander through the Maze she must, searching for answers. With twists, turns, and branches everywhere, leading nowhere, and also… a door? Where does this maze lead? Another World? Did she really die? At the limits of her knowledge she searches for answers. What is the nature of the Maze? Is this a Maze of Death itself? Where does this door lead? She must know, so wander she shall, until... Is this a new world? How is this possible? What is that strange noise beating rhythmically overhead? Why does she feel more alive than she ever has? Authors Note: The Main character has Autism. I have autism, and I'm constantly lost inside of my head, exploring different things and fixating on different ideas. The Endless Maze is a representation of that, and as such the main character is also lost in her head. I've had a couple of reviews now from people with their own interpretation of this and I really like that. The writing is meant to feel almost dream-like because the story follows a woman whose thoughts are an Endless Maze of winding paths. Thank you for reading and reviewing. Advanced Chapters can always be found on my patreon. What to look forward to: Poetry in almost every chapter, a scientific magic system, realistic survival, intelligent MC that learns about her world over time, deep lore and world building, an entire fossil record in universe. Science can often ruin Magic. To insure this isn't the case in my story, Mary, will have a deep appreciation and reverence to the world around her. The word "magic" will never be used, but the magic of story telling will not be lost, nor will creativity.
