by Dev Greymont
In a city that erases its own collapse, one man listens to the secrets in the stone. The city is rotting. The Bureau calls it maintenance. Silas Greymont knows better. An illegal Logic-Gate carved into his collarbone lets him hear what others cannot. It has also left him with memories of a world that shouldn’t exist—visions of a logic more stable than the rotting syntax of Ironvale. Through the gate, brick carries stress like a pulse. Steel whispers its breaking point. Beneath the Third Ward, pressure migrates through the city like blood through veins. The Bureau of Municipal Rhythm does not repair failing infrastructure. They redact it. Seconds erased with percussive anvils. Structural collapse displaced into neighboring districts. To the citizens of Ironvale, the streets remain safe. To Silas, the city is a ledger of borrowed time. Listening has a cost. Every calculation bleeds heat into bone. Every resonance strains the fragile hardware embedded in his body. The deeper he listens, the closer his mind drifts toward catastrophic failure. But the patterns are growing clearer. The Bureau is redistributing the damage, and something far beneath the city's foundations is beginning to move. Silas cannot overpower the system—so he will map it. And when the city finally breaks, he intends to choose where the fault line falls. **** Upload schedule: Chapters will now be released on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
