Power exists to be used. At least, that's what Mer always believed. As a rebellion grows around his strange powers and stranger ethics in a backward land, he questions if it should.
Power exists not to be used. Despite all the knowledge in the world, Verna's voice can't reach the ones she must protect. The mud is the answer, but only if she can keep it from reaching her heart.
The newfolk have ruled the oldfolk for a long time — sometimes with justice, sometimes with wrath. The wheel of time turns, however, and the old ways of being cease to belong. Mer, the unmatched mage, and Verna, the disfavoured princess, have the opportunity to get ahead of time for once and rebuild before destruction can take its toll. The world is a big canvas, however, and all power has its challenges — especially when headstrong apprentices and lazy subordinates are considered.
The Wayward Anger is a fast-paced, character-driven epic fantasy about magic, battles, hospitals, inconvenient ledgers, and the birth of irreverence.
