Fedora is one of the Kola’s creations, raised alongside others like her to serve a purpose no one else could fulfill. Each of them carries flowers, growing from their bodies, marked by a number they did not choose. The flowers give them abilities that set them apart from ordinary humans, and the Kola uses them to protect what remains of civilization. But the flowers are not fully understood. They change. They react. And sometimes, they do things no one expects. As Fedora remains with her group, small inconsistencies begin to surface, things that don’t behave the way they should, gaps that shouldn’t exist, and a growing sense that their role in the world is not what they were told.
