Connie is a living marionette trying to live like she isn’t one. In partnership with her creator, she solves supernatural cases no one else will touch in a city rotting under gaslight. It’s dangerous work, but it’s theirs. Until an old rival from Frederick's past begins pulling at the edges of their life, proving how fragile their stability really is. If Connie can’t protect what they’ve built, she won’t just lose her work as a detective. She might lose her place beside the only person who ever chose her. And in a world where people use each other like tools, being replaceable is worse than death. I Solve Crime As A Living Marionette is a character-driven detective serial centered on a dangerous partnership, moral compromise, and the cost of being fully seen, for fans of Peaky Blinders, Sherlock Holmes, and The Ancient Magus’ Bride. What to Expect: - 100% First-person single POV (through Connie, the marionette)- Morally gray characters- Slow-burn romantic tension (unrequited love)- Character-driven storytelling I have 3 books, roughly 80k words each, planned for this series. This is a beta launch while I continue editing Book 1 and building a release backlog. This story slot will be replaced during the official launch, meaning reviews will not carry over. You'll be notified when we launch officially if you're following, so no progress will be lost. Also, we're going to have a special discord role later for beta readers. If you’d like to share feedback, please leave a comment or send me a DM—I genuinely appreciate it. Thank you for being here early.
