The majistes sought a goddess who could rewrite the fate of their city.
Jo's a turn-of-the-century girl. The War, the Flu, the Recession; she got on and emerged no worse for wear! Beyond a dilapidated constitution. The roaring 20s make Jo flinch, but rest sorts her nerves right out. Everyone says so.
Once summoned and abandoned, Jo alone has the Golden Guide: ever-developing statistics, descriptions, and objectives. She no longer needs to listen to anyone.
What to expect:
- Progression for MC and the System, measured by the System only MC can see.
- A reluctant heroine with emotional blindspots out the wazoo, absolutely NO long-lasting woes from the air raids on London or the influenza epidemic, and 1910s... sensibilities. (Jo is from the 1920s. Her elders were... influential!)
- Magic system based on interaction with the universal consciousness, and cultivation. Users can skip all that meditation/gratitude/human connection by instead scoring some SICK-ASS TATTOOS!
- Calomar, a pristine utopia full of knights, artists, majistes, and clerks, protected from the surrounding continent.
(No AI. The book cover is licenced stock images smushed together by me, and the em dashes are smacked in by hand. I hired a monkey on a typewriter for this very thing.)
