The Lilith Isles have known peace for a millennia, under the rule of the Central Kingdom of Humanity. After the Human Reclamation, a war that ended 1,000 Years ago, freed them from the shackles of subjugation at the hands of the Ethereal Empire. Now the "devilspawn" that once dominated the world, the Aethers, are all but destined to die out at the hands of the 15 Royal Agents and the armies of the Kingdom. At least, that is the belief held by many humans, including Makar, a young man with little prospect in life. Raised by a single father in a small home without much coin to his name, Makar barely gets by in his simple life. Simple until the day he has a chance encounter with a dying man by the road. This encounter would go on to change the trajectory of Makar's future, as the man passes on a mysterious "glow" to Makar in his final moments. It is soon discovered that this "man" was no man at all, but an Aether. The "glow" which had been given to Makar was the Aether's very essence, making Makar himself into an Aether. And with this change, Makar quickly finds himself at the centre of a conspiracy - as the Royal Agent, Morven, seeks to eliminate any trace of Ethereal presence, and an underground colony of Aethers seek to ensure their safety and secrecy are kept. Makar is now faced with a great choice - does he keep his newfound power, but accept the risks and the alienation that come with it? Or does he attempt to stay with his simple life and avoid the inevitable chaos that would ensue should he stay as an Aether? As he will soon find out, the choices before him are not so easy, as each side is not as they may first appear and not all decisions are so clearly right or wrong.
