Working as Designed

Kellam Wren arrives in Valdren as the new Royal Arcane Advisor. His predecessor has been dead in a sealed workshop for six months. No one thought to check. The kingdom's heating wards are failing. The walls are crumbling. The treasury has misplaced eighteen percent of its funds. And the council is very concerned about proper authorization for any repairs. Kellam can't fix a broken system from inside it. So he starts building something else—a network of competent people doing necessary work in the shadows, one unauthorized repair at a time.
