Echoes of a Dead Sun is a dark progression fantasy set in a world left in ruin after the Great Dimming — the day the sun shattered and rained fragments across the earth. In the centuries that followed, humanity retreated to fortress-cities surrounded by endless deserts and ruins infested with monsters born from fallen Lumen shards. Power is structured through the Lumen Core Array — a crystalline mechanism within the human chest capable of forming thirteen rings, each representing a stage of cultivation. Most hunters never surpass Stage Three. Seventeen-year-old Silas Vane enters the Hunter’s Guild as Stage Zero — an Opaque. Cold, analytical, and emotionally detached, Silas quickly realizes survival is not about bravery but efficiency. When he secretly acquires a flawed low-tier Lumen Heart known as the Greywell Bead, he begins experimenting with dangerous refinement methods, risking internal collapse for accelerated growth. As Silas climbs toward his first ring, he manipulates allies, studies monster weaknesses, and slowly distances himself from humanity. Unknown to him, his Core Prism is different from that of other humans — darker, denser, and responsive to violence. The story follows his gradual ascent through the early stages of power, exploring ambition, sacrifice, and the thin line between hunter and monster. PS: this is my first time writing something like this, I would love for feedback and other information regarding the story.
