After traveling to a distant world to escape a Solar System on the verge of collapse, the crew of the Parvus finds itself stranded there following a disastrous landing. Among them is UN.SY. Navy technician Alba Fauster, who has an even worse problem. She only wanted to free her childhood hero, Adam “Zweihander,” from the capsule he was imprisoned in — but instead, she released 108 dangerous Alter-humans onto the planet they had just reached. To make matters even worse, this world that Alba had hoped might offer a half-Alter like herself a place to finally start again is not what she was told. For starters, it’s filled with strange creatures not primitive enough for her tastes, entire civilizations included— —And somehow, her hero’s enemies have made it here as well. If you prefer my own words instead of tags: What is Crucible about? It’s a slow-burn dark fantasy novel with many sci-fi elements. (I do sometimes refer to it as “Isekai with extra steps,” but there are no blue boxes in the prose.) It’s told through different POVs and the tone of the story changes depending on who's living it. There are multiple leads, though some POV characters are more recurrent than others — and, most importantly, all of them are somehow bound to what the book is really about… the Crucible. What to expect from the novel: -The novel is predominantly dark fantasy written in a LN anime\manga style. The sci-fi elements are more present at the beginning, but as the characters merge with the new world, technology gradually starts acting almost like a magic system, especially when it comes to Alloys, the abilities possessed by certain Alter-humans. -Action, fights, and war. Just not every five minutes. -Travel and exploration. -Comedy. -Moral greyness. -Despite the lighter tone of the synopsis, Crucible can get dark.Heavy themes are explored throughout the novel, but always through the characters’ perspectives. I will never judge characters for their actions or thoughts. Dear possible reader, that’s actually your job. -Romance sub-plots and character psychology. -Social and political themes from both the old world (not the real) and the new are part of the novel’s lore and worldbuilding. -And last, but not least:Being human vs. being not. 3 weekly updates. (More on first and last chapter of an arc.) Note: This novel uses AI assistance for Latin/Greek translations and for developing fictional languages. The base illustrations of the covers are AI generated. The crucible logo (nine-rayed sun with eye) is not.
