A force for chaos emerges from the shadows, terrorizing both humans and monsters alike. A chosen few live a double life; building by day as humans, and destroying by night as Nightfiends. Each is tethered to a monster, and together they are tasked with completing a single mission within two years—a mission that has never been achieved by any previous generation. With their monstrous companions arriving weak, the hosts must navigate the enmity separating them from the rest of mankind, fearing that any attempt to bridge the divide will awaken the scars of history. Wallis begins the journey of losing the human face. Branded a Skinwalker, she is persecuted by this side and admired by the other. Unfortunately for her, healing isn't the only thing injuries reveal. The monsters' accumulated wisdom drives the hosts to infiltrate the other side. But knowledge and power cannot replace the trust demanded by a real battlefield.
