Andres is a 16‑year‑old growing up in Miami in 1986 who has grown up haunted by a strange connection to the shadows. As a child, a massive shadow hand gripped his arm in a nightmare; now, those shadows stalk him, stretching, hardening, and moving at will around him. At first, the power comes out only when he feels intense fear or anger, lashing out to protect himself or push people away, making him afraid of himself. As he navigates the pressures of family, school, and the streets, Andres slowly realizes his "curse" is actually a dangerous gift, shadow-like powers tied to his emotions and the pain he has carried for years. The story follows him learning to control these powers rather than being controlled by them.
