The Echo Thesis

Elias Kade is a genetics researcher at Cambridge University. But in trying to create a code-able synthetic human cell, he discovers the impossible: a recursive pattern in ancient human DNA.  As he prepares to publish his findings, things start to unwind. His credentials at the university and systems are revoked--and he becomes aware of increasing surveillance around his activities.
