NEAR FALLEN! — Official Series Synopsis Genre: Seinen / Dark Fantasy / Psychological Horror / Pre-Apocalyptic Adventure  Rating: Mature (Violence, abuse, trauma, existential horror) Under Ragnarök’s unending winter, the world of Penanoreum is dying. Once ruled by countless kingdoms, only five fractured realms remain — Solmeir, Brassenthal, Jouvelle, Elmvael, and Nachtvold — clinging to survival amid collapsing myths, decaying gods, and fading authority. Beauty erodes. History rots. And beneath the snow, something ancient stirs. The story begins with Erik Braunbier, a thirteen-year-old boy trapped inside a cycle of poverty, abuse, and silence. Beaten by his father, tormented by his peers, and powerless to protect his mother, Erik exists in a world where suffering is routine and mercy is myth. One night, that fragile existence shatters. After returning home drunk, enraged, and destitute, Erik’s father assaults his wife and kills her in a fit of blind violence. In a moment of pure terror and instinct, Erik strikes back — stabbing his father thirty-two times with shattered glass. When guards arrive, they find only blood, corpses, and a trembling boy kneeling between them. Declared guilty of double murder, Erik is condemned to death in exile. But execution is not his fate. Instead, Erik is transported to the Moribund Facilitation Centre — a nightmarish abyss disguised as a prison. Officially, it is a containment facility for the world’s most violent criminals. In truth, it is a black-market recruitment abyss, where assassins, lunatics, and monsters-for-hire are forged into disposable weapons for wars that never officially exist. Here, Erik is stripped of childhood and thrown into a world governed by brutality, contracts, and silence. Within Moribund, he encounters Gideon Grimwald, a young assassin whose mocking cruelty reflects the institution itself — and whose lethal competence exposes just how weak Erik truly is. Every day becomes survival. Every breath becomes defiance. Yet all of Moribund answers to one being. A shadow that moves behind events. A name whispered with dread: Dead Zero — Arnaud Léon de la Chevelure Beauregard III. An elegant sovereign of time, consequence, and fate itself, Dead Zero orchestrates existence like a grand concerto — manipulating lives, rewriting outcomes, and bending reality toward an unseen end. To him, Moribund is not a prison. It is an instrument. And Erik is merely another fragile note. As Erik is drawn deeper into Moribund’s abyss, the truth of Penanoreum begins to unravel. Myths decay. Gods falter. Reality itself destabilizes. And behind every fracture lies a singular question: Can a broken boy defy inevitability — or will he become another echo inside a dying world? Near Fallen! is a dark, emotionally driven journey through suffering, survival, rebellion, and existential horror — where identity fractures, destiny erodes, and the cost of defiance may be the collapse of reality itself.
