The First Commandment kept the town of Blessed End alive:  “Never speak to demons.”  “Never answer their human pets.”  Anki obeyed the rule—his father did not. Now the village of Blessed End stands on the edge of annihilation as a demonlord known as Vaarak marches toward them.  Their only hope now lies in a forbidden trade with the Ragpicker—a creature that gives you everything you want, for everything you love most.  To save his home, Anki must travel far from his home into the Demon Wastes, but he won’t do so alone.
