Runaways of Sand City

The Story: In 2089, a failed project to freeze the oceans caused a global catastrophe. The world drowned, and then collapsed into a desert wasteland. On the remains of former America, billionaires built Sand City-a massive, multi-leveled metropolis where the Elite live in luxury while the poor struggle in subterranean tunnels. The city is ruled by a mysterious figure known as "The First," who maintains control by chipping the population. These neural implants erase memories and turn people into obedient puppets. While 90% of the population is chipped, a few remain "clean". Arthur is a young mechanic from the Lower Levels who survives by his own inventions. His life changes when he meets Mira, a girl from the Upper Levels who is desperately trying to escape the mandatory chipping scheduled for her 14th birthday. Together with a hacker named Rodion—one of the few who managed to avoid the chip-they must find a way to go against the system. In a city of controlled minds, being unchipped is the ultimate rebellion.   Author’s Note: Hi everyone! I’m 14 years old, and this is my first serious writing project.
