In book three of the Gifted and Talented series, Ray learns of a connection between his family and the Arsenal and Kirby Carbide factory, where his last adventure ended. His aunt has the photo album of Frances, a woman who worked at both places and died under mysterious circumstances -- while having an affair with one of Ray's ancestors. Ray must travel back to the 1940's and 1950's via his ancestor's memories to find the answer to the mystery. Gwen gets involved when they have to raise Frances' spirit (helped by George and a chili dog); and are directed to the mysterious Crows' Mill to find the final answer. Along the way, there is an epic meal at the Mapagui's house, Gwen meets Ray's mom, Uncle Harry offers coffee, and it all winds up in a shattering conclusion as the truth is revealed -- was it suicide, or murder?
