Zyra Delihan is a cadet who dreamed of becoming a Dragon Rider after her parents' death. After a year of training, she succeeds in becoming of the few riders who have a chance of bonding with a dragon during the Coronation. She swears she wouldn't mess up this opportunity. A legendary Shadowbringer, one of the rarest dragon species that exists, shows up to this Coronation, and takes an interest in her. However, when he requests pickle chips and regular delivery of fruits and vegetables, she realizes she isn't prepared for the bond and what is to come. Zyra is going to have to navigate her prideful dragon's ridiculous requests, keep secrets from the people around her, and build bonds if she is going to make it through her first year at the academy.
