A PRICE OF ECHOS

PROLOGUE In a world much like ours, a silent pandemic spreads - the '' Echo Virus'' . Those infected dont get sick physically. Instead , they gain supernatural ability, but every time they use it, they permanently lose a memory. The more powerful the ''Echo'' , the more precious the memory it costs . In response to the Echo virus pandemic, the government formed the Mnemosyne Special Tactics division - an elite, shadowy force that polices Echo-related incidents. They are the only legal entity authorized to use Echoes in the field. To the public,they are heroes who contain Hallow outbreaks and take down dangerous Mnemos ( Term for criminal echo users). Internally , they are a military organization with a singular motto: ''The Mission is the Only Memory That Matters.'' Echo-users who have used their power so much they’ve lost their core identity are called ‘’ Hallows ‘’ . They are functionally powerful , but are they even people? They might speak in fragments of other people’s lost memories. Echo abilities can vary from Telekenisis, precognition, teleportation , pyrokinesis and many others.
