Stone Monkey

After four years of service on the continent of Fenoria, Eirik Wilder and Ruefin Broadblade finally earned a break from the military. Inspired by Eirik's desire to see the desert and rumours of well-paid mercenary work to the east, they set out into the arid region of Divarim in search of adventure and gold. When things turned sour at a watering hole, their desperate flight into the scrub-lands led them to a small tribal village where the inhabitants were struggling with the dwindling of their only source of water. Convinced that the drought was caused by the villagers loss of faith, the local shaman proposed a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Water-Bringer and, out of gratitude, Eirik and Ruefin offered their services as an escort. The ensuing journey revealed the truth about the subsiding water levels, the sudden recruitment drive to the east, and the disturbing link between the two. Eirik and his friends found themselves trying to restore the balance of nature under the nose of a would-be emperor who cared little for the spirits of the land, and even less for its people.
