Grey Guardian

Grey Guarding is a dark contemporary fantasy centred on the Grey Guardian, a powerful but finite being assigned to protect a chosen hero—a girl destined to destroy the Demon King’s power itself, not merely his physical form. The Demon King is not a single entity but a system: when one bearer dies, his power and memories transfer randomly to another, making true victory impossible unless the power is erased entirely. The hero was trained in Heaven before birth, but her power is too vast for a human body. To keep her hidden, it is sealed and compressed within her soul, able to be safely unlocked only once her mind is fully developed. Until then, she must not know who she truly is, as early knowledge alters her fate and prevents her from becoming the hero she is meant to be. Heaven enforces this plan through coercion. If the hero’s destiny fails, the Grey Guardian is sent back to relive his first human incarnation—a life of suffering—again and again. He does not guard the girl out of kindness or faith, but from a desperate ambition to become unbeatable, so he will never be forced to lose or relive that pain again.
