The book is based on a world that has evolved into single gendered civilization. It transposes a world where gender oppression and corporate profiteering has led to formation of Glacii, governed in a constant political struggle between Maternus, Yule & JAEB (3 clear corporate behemoths whose market competition has been reduced to 0). Maternus in current form is the all women party that rules undisputedly over the glacii continent, 130 years. In the new world, the concept of villages exists which is because of low population density. There are 8 metro cities in the entire continent in this world and 1000 odd villages. Metro cities are often out of bounds and restricted to entry to the masses, rich & higher ranked counsels Maternus in the last 200 years has taken over both government, law, media, religious & financial roles making it a corporate community & not just a governing entity. Glacii has partnerships with other smaller factions ruling in hinterlands, which are mostly women-led parties however with distinct policy frameworks. An outlier to these factions is W1, which wants to restore back the world order more than 400 years back. within this framwork the characters find their identity, struggle, transform and perish.
