Allies Tales - Book 1: Balance of Powers

In 2009, humanity experienced a profound shift when the first Extrahumans emerged, individuals who wield extraordinary powers—some could control elemental forces, others possessed heightened intelligence or physical abilities. Over the years, their proliferation has transformed the social landscape. Some Extrahumans have become celebrated heroes, while others have turned rogue, exploiting their powers for personal gain. Some individuals are known to use technology such as powered armor to fight alongside Extrahuman allies or to gain a combative edge against enemies that possess special abilities. Multiple teams of Extrahumans have banded together, though some are known to act alone. Government and law enforcement agencies, criminal organizations and other parties seek-or attempt to forge-alliances with Extrahumans in efforts to bolster their capabilities or bring down opposition. The primary force to stand up to most threats to the planet-whether human, Extrahuman, or something else entirely-are the Supreme Allies, the world’s first superhero team. Emerging circa 2009, the nine heroes who comprise the team’s roster-Omega Woman, Blue Angel, Seraphim, Bright Shadow, Phantom Archer, Warrior Wolf, Riptide, Mister Mystic, and Starfall-serve as the first line of defense to protect the planet and the general public from destruction. Through their time acting as the planet’s protectors, they have earned a reputation of always saving the day in the fifteen years since coming together. In the summer of 2024, Amber Russell, a senior at Brightmark University, has been operating for two years as the speedster heroine Blur. Growing up admiring heroes such as Omega Woman and all the other members of the Supreme Allies, Amber has a long-standing wish to join the team one day.  When engaging in heroics, Amber is partnered with her roommate and longest supporter since obtaining her powers, Sally Levine-known as the heroine Red Diamond. Following an unexpected meeting with Omega Woman, the two receive a special opportunity to help the Supreme Allies in a significant way. Amber and Sally join the Augmented Allies, a team meant to act as reserve members of the Supreme Allies whenever they need additional support. However, the formation of the Augmented Allies could not come at a worse time as both teams of heroes learn about a surprising incident regarding a theft of information carried out against the international intelligence agency VALOR. In the wrong hands, the stolen information could compromise all of Earth’s “super” population-Extrahuman and non-powered alike-in one fell swoop.  The prime suspects are believed to be the Syndicate, the world’s most powerful criminal organization, led by wealthy high-tech arms dealer and businessman Jason Chase; under his command are many of the most infamous supervillains on the planet. The Supreme Allies and Augmented Allies soon begin a concerted effort to recover the stolen VALOR data. Little do the heroes suspect the trouble brewing as the large-scale conflict of heroes and villains begins. Can the Supreme Allies and the Augmented Allies investigate the truth of the theft and recover the stolen data? The world’s heroes will get more than they bargained for as they work to uncover the conspiracy that threatens to upset the balance of power between humans and Extrahuman kind.
