With jack shit else to do, humanity's built itself around two pillars of civilization: the Vents and the Sparks. An infinite source of steam from massive subsurface oceans serves as society's source of productive power; the whole-ass goddamn planet is just holes in the ground and steam in the air. And the rare individual born with something different in their brain, capable of manipulating the world with nothing but a thought; the Spark serves as its source of military power. City-states ride and die on their factory turbines, the incessant pumping of steam from rock to bronze, and the psychics who maintain the peace. As for Endi: he's our lead, for now. A bit of a loner, a bit of a dork, something of a self-made nobody. He worries more about rent and coffee dates than duels between human superweapons. The most powerful Spark alive? That's him.
