In the near future, Major Don Filson commands Raider Company—one of the Army’s augmented-soldier units. As Centaurs, his Raiders fight in powered battlesuits while driving drones and soldierbots through brain-machine interfaces. When war with China ignites in South America, Raider Company is thrown into the fight to liberate Santiago. Then one of Filson’s platoons is cut off behind enemy lines—trapped in a ruined district where every street is watched and every rescue route is a kill box. Filson has a reputation for solving impossible problems. But this one will take more than tactics. He’ll need help from unexpected sources—and even then, it’s a long shot. This is hard military sci-fi with human stakes. What to expect: -1 chapter a day M/W/F -Story length will probably land around 20K words -This is hard military sci-fi with human stakes -Powered battlesuits, AI enabled soldierbots, augmented human soldiers -The story is set in my Spirit of the Bayonet universe (a full-length novel series) but is totally stand alone. -I have many more stand-alone short stories set in this universe I’ll be publishing here as they become available.
