Quiet Enough to Matter

This isn’t a novel. Quiet Enough to Matter is a collection of ten short scenes set in a near-future dystopia where superpowers are everywhere, heroes are ranked and watched, and attention has weight. One chapter → one scene. Each chapter is short, roughly 600 to 1000 words. These stories don’t try to explain everything or resolve major arcs. Each one captures a moment where the system bends, then moves on. If you’re looking for clear progression or resolution, this probably isn’t the right place. So why post a bunch of short fiction? This collection started as worldbuilding for a larger novel. I wanted to write scenes to find the mood, test ideas, and build a reference base for the world. That novel is still planned, with some chapters already written, but personal circumstances don’t leave me much time to work on it right now. Rather than keep everything in a drawer, I decided to share these pieces. (If the novel is released here later, this collection may not remain fully canon. The goal here was to find a tone, not to lock myself into fixed rules.) If you’re looking for flashy power fantasy, this probably isn’t it. If you enjoy dark atmospheres, restrained storytelling, and superpowers treated as something dangerous, political, and sometimes wrong, welcome.(English isn’t my first language, so even after a few passes there might still be some mistakes.
