It was an easy enough request. That is to say, their father found it quite an easy request to make, despite how daunting the task was. Kill the King. Impossible. That should have been the end of it. But last words have a way of binding you to their will. Especially when the words come from one's own blood, so they hadn't much choice in the matter. They'd decided that the best way to do the job would be to get close to the royal family. And who was closer than those whose sworn duty was to guard them night and day? Join the Kingsguard, kill the King. Easy enough.  But the empire is crumbling. Enemies from inside and out eagerly await the passing of the old King and the succession of the sickly Crown Prince.
