In the small town of Tenstone there's only one job that pays enough to survive and that's working in the quarry. Kel has been splitting rock for five years and his body is starting to feel the toll. His thoughts grow darker as the hours get longer and the wages get lower. Some say he should be grateful for the work, but Kel has a low-burning fire in his heart that says only one thing over and over: It shouldn't be this way.
