In the frost-locked heights of Northern Bahysaris, Prince Byuga is a man becoming a ghost within his own skin. Stripped of his birthright and surrendering his senses to a creeping, inexplicable blight, he is exiled to the gargantuan monolith of Gaigen—the Black Tower—to wither away in the silent service of duty. But beneath the shadow of the great spire, the ancient order of the world is fracturing. As political intrigues coil like serpents among the Great Houses and the savage Kardam tide stirs in the frozen wastes, a celestial fire suddenly cleaves the firmament, shattering the ice and the very foundations of reality. Amidst the roar of a world reborn in agony, Byuga discovers that the silence he has inhabited is not an end, but an awakening. In a realm where fate is forged in blood and iron, the blind and broken prince must master a power beyond sight—or be the first to vanish in the coming of the White Doom.
