The whims of man gave birth to war. And from war, men found solace as well as purpose. Once a feared general who conquered the known world, he is now nothing more than a weak prince, burdened with a strange illness that may cost him his life. In a world where true magic is regulated by the church, survival is not a matter of strength, but of control. But there are forces far beyond kings and kingdoms. The so-called gods are not as distant as they seem. And when their gaze falls upon him, one truth becomes impossible to ignore: He is not rising to power. He is being consumed by it.
