The Adventures of Kiadan Slywyth is a young adult space opera short story series following a small, mischievous purple dragon-like creature and her found family of pirates aboard the smuggling vessel Discordant Saint. Each story is a self-contained adventure featuring Kiadan Slywyth, an ancient alien race known as the Ris'War who chooses to remain in her "baby" form. Despite being the last of an ancient species of galactic conquerors, Kiadan is naive, playful, and utterly devoted to her crew, whom she considers family. She officially serves as the ship's "mascot" but actually functions as their computer specialist and infiltration expert. The series tries to balance lighthearted adventure with genuine emotional depth. Stories are told primarily from Kiadan's perspective, colored by her childlike wonder and her belief that TV shows are "informational videos" sending her personal messages. The humor comes naturally from her earnest misunderstanding of the world around her, her elaborate pranks, and the crew's exasperated affection for her.
